Description

Cave exploration provides a sense of adventure and is an increasingly popular sport among young people and adults. Indiana has 2,640 caves. 800 are located in two Southern Indiana counties, Harrison and Crawford.

Limestone caves maintain an almost constant year round temperature. Marengo Cave’s temperature is about 52.1 degrees. Its humidity is very high---nearly 100% in many areas of the cave.

So go ahead and get muddy on this trip while journeying through the stream level of Marengo Cave. You’ll likely see cave life, and there is plenty of crawling to go around! You will actually wade through the underground stream!

During this adventure caving experience you will learn safe caving techniques and information about the history and creation that you are crawling through, such as the Speleothems, which are mineral deposits formed by the evaporation of water that contains calcium carbonate.

These trips provide a great introduction to caves in their natural state, truly an exploration to experience!!!

Essential Information
Participants must be at least ten years of age and accompanied by an adult if under the age of 18. Helmets and Petzl head lamps are provided. You will need sign a waiver prior to the experience.

Weather

What to Wear
Wear long pants, jeans are good, wool socks, long sleeves and sturdy boots. You WILL GET WET AND MUDDY so a change of clothes are recommended. Also, bring a garbage bag for your muddy clothes.

Booking Information
For this experience, it is recommended to request bookings at least 14 days in advance.

Cancellation Policy
Once you have received a booking confirmation, cancellations and rescheduling are allowed up to 14 days prior to the Experience. Failure to appear on your booked date, cancel or reschedule at least 14 days prior to your booked date will result in the loss of the value of your Experience.
