Support Charity with eDivvy.com

Thank you for supporting Blind Start of America.

Blind Start of America (BLINDSTART) is an award-winning 501(c) 3 non-profit organization with the mission to help blind and visually impaired persons learn and develop job skills to empower them to lead lives of independence. BLINDSTART is one of the fastest growing non-profit organizations in the country. We vow to bring Awareness and Education throughout America with our niche "Visionary Experience...Blindfolded!" events, sharing the challenges of the Blind community while having fun!

This year, BLINDSTART celebrates the 20th anniversary of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and introduces a new project called the "50/50 Home Promise Plan" where we will identify 50 qualified disabled Americans, pair them with 50 employers, and place them on a career track and home ownership path.

On July 31, 2010, 36 volunteers will make history representing Blind Start of America paddling BLIND or BLINDFOLDED in the 2010 Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival. This will be BLINDSTART's first "Visionary Experience Blindfolded!" Dragon Boat race. Each paddler is blind or blindfolded, guided only by the boat's drummer and steersman, working together to compete against sighted racers. This will be a true test of determination and teamwork.

The donations collected will fund our socially impactful "50/50 Home Promise Plan". We thank you for your love, generosity, and support!

Blind Start of America (BSA) is an award-winning 501(c)3 non-profit organization with the mission to help blind and visually impaired persons learn and develop job skills to empower them to ultimately lead lives of independence. BSA is one of the hottest, fastest growing non-profit organizations in the country. We vow to bring Awareness and Education throughout America with our niche "Visionary Experience...Blindfolded!" events, sharing the challenges of the Blind community while having fun!

In 2008, when BSA President and Founder Brian Tom participated in Camp Pendleton's World Famous Mud Run, he realized that he was the ONLY Disabled participant. And so began BSA's "Visionary Experience...Blindfolded: BLIND MUD RUN". Each "Dirty Dozen" teams consists 5 participants: 3 sighted runners, 1 blind/visually impaired and 1 blindfolded runner. Our 12 teams made history last year with the largest number of registrants and as the ONLY group to ever have Blind and Blindfolded runners.

2010 was even bigger, with a total of 13 Blind Mud Run Teams. Each team is asked to raise $500 for BSA by June 20th. These donations will fund our SOCIALLY IMPACTFUL 50/50 Home Promise Plan that will increase gainful work employment and home ownership for Disabled America. We thank you for your love, generosity and support. See you in the mud!
